
The Thurmont Food Bank
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
The Thurmont Food Bank is a non-profit ministry of the Thurmont Ministerium. It is supported by area churches, organizations, businesses and individuals. Food is provided to those in need who live in Thurmont, Lewistown, Rocky Ridge, Utica, Sabillasville, Graceham and areas in between. Those requesting food are asked to bring identification
such as a driver's license
or a picture i.d. plus a piece of mail showing your place of residence.
The Food Bank is Closed:
- When the Frederick County Schools close due to inclement weather, but since weather changes through out the day
you can check this website and/or call 240-288-1865
to see if the food bank will be closed
-When the following holidays fall on a Tuesday or Friday:
Christmas and the day after (Dec. 25th-26th)
New Year's Day and the day after (Jan. 1-2)
The 4th of July
- On the Friday before Colorfest


Donations
An average of 320 households made up of over 1,300 individuals receive food each month. You can help by making a financial contribution or by donating un-expired canned goods, fruits, meats, vegetables and dairy products as well as already prepared foods that have been made in a commercial kitchen. Also needed are: hygiene and cleaning supplies such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, laundry detergent, dish soap, toilet paper and paper towels.
